Facing It

You can’t see over the mountain until you climb it first. The mere appearance can send one fleeing. As I write this, I’m faced with my own mountain but I’ve run out of options and my only choice is to climb it. I may do it scared but I’m doing it.

Mountains are often used metaphorically when describing a situation that will take faith, strength, and determination. When you think of all that encompasses mountain climbing, you visualize this huge event that appears to lack chance. It seems, in essence, to be insurmountable. In order to get to the top you’re likely to get hurt or experience moments of weakness that may cause you to fall. So what pushes us to that point where none of the obstacles matter? For me, it’s my inability to be stagnant and unpurposeful. I truly believe that God has a plan for every individual’s life but in order to fulfill it, mountains have to be climbed.

I can’t say that I’ve made it to the top of mine but I have started the climb. How do I know this, because I’ve fallen. And although that fall hurt and made me feel inadequate, I still know that I can do it. I now know why I fell so I’m more prepared and tactical in my approach.

Wherever you are in life, I pray that the appearance of your mountain doesn’t detour you from your purpose. It may seem impossible but many have traveled this journey successfully so why not you. Let’s get to the top and see what’s on the other side.
